Frequently Asked Questions

  • A website design and build by a reputable company can range a great deal, based on the level of service and offerings. We offer a few packages based on your website needs. You can find our complete price list here ⇢

  • It’s important to note that launching a website online will always have extra costs. We charge for design and development. Your operation will have other costs that might include:

URL (domain name) registrar fees. This is where you register your website address and is different than your website hosting. It’s usually a nominal fee, paid annually.

Squarespace hosting, like any other host, requires a subscription (for 30% savings we recommend annual billing). The price is based on the level of customization and functionality your site needs and includes your web hosting.

When you sign up through us, you get a discount on your first year. Yay!

    A note on 3rd Parties:

Squarespace integrates with many 3rd party applications for added power across the web. Ie: Paypal, Stripe and Shopify for online sales, Acuity and OpenTable for bookings, Mailchimp for mail, Zapier for many other options.

It’s important to note that some of these are included with your subscription, but some will have their own fees as well. When we build your site we’ll go over all of them with you so you get an idea of your total monthly cost.

Some other fees, depending on your project, could be:

Squarespace in-house Top-ups, such as an eCommerce shop, newsletter campaigns or online booking and scheduling usually require an upgrade to your site and/or extra fees. Extra pages added on to your contract, extra time booked with your designer after launch.

Payment gateways such as Paypal and Stripe have fees per transaction.

  • Yes! We are happy to break your payments up into 3 instalments.

Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter be informed about our month-long specials as well. Throughout the year we offer a 20% discount which can add up to as much as $600.

  • Each design company will have their own approach to the web build process. We like to have fun with it, while still sticking to a schedule guideline.

    1. We have a virtual meeting to assess your needs

    2. We send you a proposal and then a contract with a potential date for start

    3. We collect a deposit

    5. We’ll send you an invite to our company Discord, our online cloud collaboration platform where we can chat in real time

    4. We send you out an onboarding package with some helpful worksheets to help you gather your content and write your copy. We’ll take a look at what you have and what you need still. We usually give you about a month to gather and write, but it totally depends on where you’re at. We’ll check with you to see how it’s coming.

    5. Once your content is submitted, we’ll book you in for your website build

    6. We’ll meet up in Discord on Build Day One

    7. During the build process, for a Bespoke Web Design, we’ll have two rounds of design approvals and changes. For a Template Build Out, we’ll have a round of changes. Then, launch!

    9. In the week post-launch, our team will optimize the site for search (SEO) and finalize any behind-the-scenes details. If you ordered any Top-ups, such as a shop, as scheduler, a calendar, we would be setting those up here as well.

    10. And we'll stick around for 2 weeks to help you orient to your new home on the web

A few important items to note:

A website build is a collaborative and timely process. Barring delays, (and depending on your package) we build most projects within 1-6 weeks. This means we’ll need you to be available throughout the build, roughly every day, for feedback. Discord is great for this.

Content can be a stumbling block in this process. If you don’t have your content (that's all of your imagery and copy for each page of your website) ready for the build, it can take much longer.

We cannot build a website without content. If you don’t have your content ready for your website, you will need to take time aside to gather it. We can help you with this.

  • A website can take anywhere from one day to several months to build, depending on the scope of the project.

Our Template Build Out package will have you launched in a week. We usually book 2-3 weeks total for these projects.

Our Bespoke Web Design package can take anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks.

We’ll give you a time estimate in your quote. Please note: as mentioned, content is the one stumbling block in this process. If you don’t have your content ready for the build, we cannot move forward.

Also if you require eCommerce with a shop and products, or a Scheduler, or both - this can take longer. Contact us for your custom estimate.

  • Yes and no. We do not write your copy for you. Generally, clients are expected to bring their content to the drawing board and we will design a beautiful website around it.

However, we can help. In our experience, a client will need either Content Management or Content Creation or both.

Content Management - we can help you with this!

You already have a bunch of content (that is, website copy, imagery, sometimes graphics) but you are having trouble visualizing how it will appear on your new website pages. This often happens when there is an old website and you want to keep the content on that site as well as add new content and spruce things up for your new website. This is our area of expertise! We love organizing your content in a way that looks good, is useful to your audience and also good for your SEO.

Content Creation - we can coach you.

You have nothing. Or you have a few lines of text but not enough to fill a website. We can help you create your content to some extent. We will give you our content creation worksheets and, if you get stuck we’ll have a coaching session.

Your content generally should be edited and proof-read and ready for publication at submission. If your website is five pages or under, we’re happy to give it a last look over and final proof. If your project is larger and you need proofreading and/or copy-editing, please let us know. This would be charged at our hourly rate and added to your final invoice.

Note: please let us know if you need help with your content! Content development coaching, when done together, can take an extra week or so. Writing your content however, can be a deeply personal process and can take quite a while! If you are struggling, we recommend hiring a copywriter. This would need to be done before your website build takes place. Ask us for a recommendation!

We require all content to be submitted before we can book your website build on our timeline. If you don’t have your content ready, we cannot move forward with the project.

With your images, we recommend clients get a professional photoshoot for their website. This photoshoot can dictate design inspiration of the site, such as palette and graphic accents. If you don’t have a photoshoot, we include up to two hours of stock photo search and curation in our standard contract. We’ll find the right imagery for your brand.

  • Your content is part of your website design. It’s not possible to design a website without content.

Generally we won’t book you in for the build in unless we’ve approved completed content documents. This will mitigate any delays.

If you are struggling with it, please do get in touch! We’ll be checking in on you throughout the process.

  • After launch, your sparkly new website is your baby now! But don’t worry - we’re always here to help.

If needed, we’ll send you helpful custom training videos to help you learn how to update your site.

We’ll stay on with you for two weeks after your launch date as a general help desk to help you get started and iron out any kinks that may come up.

We’re always available at our hourly rate to add pages, add functions, and maintain your site if you need us. Please keep in mind that, although Squarespace makes it easy for you to manage your blogs, calendar and changes in copy and images, we highly recommend that you come to us for any design changes, as your site is a custom build project that uses code.

  • Yes! Our standard contract includes a wordmark logo.
