In every culture, across time, there have been comedic and symbolic figures serving up the history transpiring right in front of us in ways that reveal our pretenses, foibles, and double standards.
The artwork Stephanie Lowe creates, often using the jester and the fox, explores historical, political, familial, and communal realities with the timeless symbols and metaphors of non-threatening comedic commentary.
Stephanie came to Goodwin Creative needing a website that would feature her captivating sculptures as well as showings and workshops. A resident of Whistler BC, she had seen a website we’d done for a fellow artist in Squamish and wanted something similar.
The project also included digitizing her hand-drawn logo. We love Stephanie’s creations and wanted to feature the Jester with the house on their shoulder at the top of her site. We isolated the sculpture using Photoshop and created the website’s colour palette using the colours on the Jesters jacket. Then we used flowing section dividers to echo the soft lines of the sculptures.
Stephanie’s shop is on Etsy which we connected with a button in the top menu.
This was an enjoyable project and the client was very pleased. Stephanie now maintains and updates the website herself which is a big advantage when choosing to build with Squarespace.
